Description :
The A. examines the purported clustering of centenarians (those who have surpassed 100 years) in the Caucasus region of the former Soviet States, and question its plausibility based on the pattern of the reported data. The idea of extraordinary longevity being tied to a place is explored through the larger concepts of health geography and therapeutic places, as well as the rural-urban dichotomy. We also detail potential motivations behind this myth’s persistence, including nostalgia, nationalism, and yogurt sales. – (BJ)
