In the article the A. tries to answer the question if river Danube – as a natural element – has an authentic role in the formation and changing of geographical space in its basin? Except the following centuries after the foundation of the Hungarian Kingdom, the development of region was influenced by external powers: Rome, Byzantium, Moscow and the German sphere of interests. The effects are manifested in many fields of life from culture to economy, trade and geopolitics. As a result it is visible, that role of the Danube in the evolution of spatial structures was not highly relevant, but rather regional and temporal until today. - (AM)
