The paper outlines the dilemmas and arguments of the golf-related tourism investments started in the 1990’s in Belek, Antalya Province, Turkey. These developments were always the target of speculations and environmental disputes no matter whether right or wrong decision had been made by the government and investors. The two sides – developers and environment protectors – had been arguing on environmental issues, meanwhile, local people were not included in the decision making process. The paper also introduces both the physical and human geography of the Antalya–Belek area as the background of these golf investments and emphasizes the particular features of the Belek coast. - (AM)
