Description :
In the study, the dust outbreaks from the Sahara toward the Carpathian Basin were examined on a daily basis from 1979 to 2009. Altogether 124 dust episodes were identified as Saharan dust intrusions in the investigated area and period, using the daily Aerosol Index of Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer (NASA), satellite images and trajectories of air masses. The interannual and seasonal variability of the dusty episodes were determined, and the episodes were classified on the basis of their synoptic situations into three main types. - (AM)
