High street adaptations : ethnicity, independent retail practices, and Localism in London's urban margins

Auteur :
HALL, S.M.

Description :
The paper explores what forms of planning are best suited to recognize a rapidly evolving retail landscape together with the differentiation inherent in the local landscape. Socioeconomic measures of high street values are explored by analyzing the adaptive practices of the ethnically diverse, independent retailers on the Walworth Road. Adaptation is conceptualised by adjustments in recognition of large-scale economic forces, regulatory frameworks, and local cultural nuances.
