Les AA. étudient l’impact de la diversité ethnique sur le capital social dans les quartiers d’Amsterdam, en distinguant les réseaux sociaux homogènes de ceux hétérogènes. Ils analysent la perception de ce phénomène par la population locale et les politiciens. Les résultats montrent que la diversité ethnique a des effets sur la société civile, à l'inverse, les réseaux sociaux hétérogènes, caractérisés par le nombre de fondations dans un quartier sont moins tolérants envers la diversité ethnique que les réseaux homogènes constitués d’associations de loisirs.
