Description :
The objective of this paper is to investigate the relation between bed roughness and channel width using field evidence from rill and small gully channels using the extended river geometry equations for rills and gullies, with the aim to identify a possible unification of the processes of channel formation. The validity of this approach is tested against channel data from Mars. Finally, an equation predicting bed roughness and based on stream power is developed and compared with measured rill and gully bed roughness successfully.
