Les AA. analysent les regroupements urbains en Chine à l’aide des systèmes d’information géographique afin d’évaluer leur distribution spatiale. La méthode utilisée permet d’identifier les clusters suivants : le delta de la rivière des Perles, la vallée inférieure du Yangtze, la région Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, la plaine du Nord-Est de la Chine, la vallée centrale du Yangtze, les plaines du centre de la Chine, le détroit oriental de Taiwan, ceux du Guanzhong et de Chengdu-Chongqing. Ils concluent que c’est la première étude qui prenne en compte l’accessibilité des transports et les caractéristiques socio-économiques.
