Description :
This paper examines the role of science parks (SPs) and the co-location of high-tech Small-and Me-dium-sized firms in China’s Shenzhen. It is found that their locations are determined by hierarchically structured and governed SPs. Moreover, these effects occur in the relatively unexplored Chi-nese context of increasingly liberalised but governed market circumstances, where a mature innova-tion system is still lacking.
