In the second half of the 20th century, Slovenian geographers gradually specialized into increasingly narrower areas of interest. Academy member Ivan Gams focused his research and teaching on karst. His exceptional research breadth is reflected in the variety of contributions in all areas of physical and regional geography. Ivan Gams’s contributions in other areas of geography reflect his restless and critical research spirit, which helped shape Slovenia’s social developments in the recent past. - (IKR)
