Contribution of Ivan Gams to Slovenia's regional geography and regionalization

Ivan Gams made his greatest contributions to regional geography in the second half of the 20th century with the development of methodology, although the theory of regional geography was in decline. The role of thematic cartography, geographic information systems and the humanistic component strengthened while regional geography revived with the Slovenia’s independence in 1991. Gams enriched it with his regionalization schemes, secondary-school textbooks, leading the regional geography research project, and advising to junior researchers. - (IKR)
