Auteur :MACLEAN, K.
Description :
Mabel Barker was a progressive teacher of university students and school children in Great Britain during the interwar and post-war years. Her principal commitments were to learning out-of-doors, and to a vision for fieldwork survey that championed the region as a scale of activity and analysis, following the ideas of Patrick Geddes who was her intellectual mentor. One of the foremost female mountaineers of her time, she was an exceptionally capable, passionate and intrepid climber. - (HC)
