Description :
The aim of AA’ investigations was to explore the evolution of loess platform and the landforms on Susak Island in Kvarner Bay, North Adriatic basin. Special emphasis was put on the role of tectonic movements in the landscape evolution of the island. Landforms were displayed on geomorphological maps and their evolution was explained in details. The most characteristic landforms on Susak Island are as follows : partly exhumed landforms of the ancient terrain (scarps, limestone cliffs) emerging from loess sediments or becoming unburied by abrasion; special loess landforms formed on denudation-accumulation relief. AA. also highlighted the role of sand dune cave levels situated above the surface and under the sea level in indicating hiatus of paleosoil series. - (AM)
