Description :
The aim of this research was to study winds and airflows during rainy periods in order to plan for cloud seeding projects to increase precipitation in central areas of Iran (Yazd and Kerman provinces). One of the most important factors to study in site selection for cloud seeding projects is the relationship between winds and precipitation in the region of interest. The analysis was performed using wind direction and speed data for both surface and tropospheric levels. The results suggest that one radar site with an effective range of about 250 km be placed in the high central mountains of southern Kerman and Shirkuh in an area that could cover compass headings between 170° and 340° to help observe prevailing winds up to 2-3 days before the approach of synoptic systems into the area.
