Classifications géomorphologiques des plaines d'inondation dans la littérature internationale

Auteur :
LÓCZY, D.

Description :
Floodplain classifications are closely related to river channel typologies, but the publications in the former topic count by far less in number. Nevertheless, worldwide various systems have been elaborated based on fluvial landforms, geomorphological processes or for practical purposes. The widest accepted genetic classification is presented in detail. Classifications serving practical purposes have been proposed – among others – in Australia, Austria and Germany and they are imparted special emphasis as the recognition of flood and drought hazard in the floodplains of channelized rivers increasingly calls for floodplain rehabilitation measures, for which a detailed hydromorphological survey is inevitable. - (AM)
