Description :
Małopolska is well known as a region of outstanding nationwide natural beauty. It is characterized by a high share of self-sufficient farms and significant fragmentation of fields. A variety of leisure forms and spending free time becomes increasingly important in the social and economic life of the Polish society. Małopolska may involve its economy to meet the needs of tourism and recreation now and in the future. The functions of rural areas are strongly associated with the operation and development of the tourist areas and the city of Cracow and its surroundings as well. Five possible scenarios for development of Małopolska’s countryside over the next several years were proposed respectively for regions that are tentatively identified as: the Cracow region, mountain tourism region, foothills region, northern agricultural region and Silesian-Cracow region. – (BJ)
