The A. tries to determine the contemporary functional and spatial structure of Poland’s Katowice conurbation, which is found to be more Late-Industrial than Post-industrial in character. The two main processes seen to influence the current functional and spatial organisation of the conurbation are ongoing concentration of supra-local services in Katowice, as well as differences between one area and another as regards the processes of deindustrialisation and reindustrialisation. – (BJ)
