The article describes the course and scientific programme of Poland’s first polar expedition, whose goal was Bear Island. In the years 1932/1933, a 13-month period coinciding with the Second International Polar Year saw meteorological and magnetic observations carried out on the island by the expedition’s three participants: C. Centkiewicz, W. Łysakowski and S. Siedlecki. – (BJ)
