The article describes biometeorological vs. meteorological conditions in the area of the Forlandsundet (NW Spitsbergen) in the summer season of 2010. The diversity of these conditions was analysed at eight points in different weather, considering the elevation, the distance from the sea and the type of ground cover. Biothermal conditions were presented on the basis of the value of biometeorological factors: the cooling power factor, the wind chill temperature and the predicted insulation of clothing. The meteorological and biometeorological conditions were found to be considerably varied over the period of observations. – (BJ)
