This article addresses an issue of major importance to the development of every municipality, i.e. the migration plans of young people seeking to start households of their own. Piaseczno in Poland may serve as an example of a municipality located in the suburban zone around a large city (in this case Warsaw), in which the negative effects of dynamic, often chaotic, development are becoming more onerous. The article describes the results of a survey in which residents assessed living conditions in the municipality of Piaseczno and shared knowledge on the migration plans of young people soon due to become independent. It emerges that young people gravitate toward Warsaw, a fact that may denote future development problems for the municipality of Piaseczno itself. – (BJ)
