Description :
The Podlasie Voivodeship is situated on the boundary of Western Christianity (Latin) and Byzantine civilisation in Europe. One of the results of this boundary location is multiculturalism of the region. The main feature of denominational structure includes occurrence of the Orthodox Belorussian minority and a group of the Roman Catholics - prevailing in regional community. For over three centuries there also exist ethnic and religious minorities: Tatars and Old Believers. - (BJ)
