Description :
In 1920 the towns of Cieszyn and Česky Tešin were divided by a state boundary which became noticeably permeable only in the early 1990s. Since that time the role of retail trade in the spatial and functional structure of this urban complex has been growing. It has also generated specific forms of commerce intended to serve consumers from the other side of the border as well as new forms of large-volume stores. - (BJ)
