Since the beginning of 2000 real estate economy is transforming from a locally embedded industry into a globally oriented one. Investments in real estate are bound less and less to local or national markets, but are expanding worldwide. In particular the convergence of capital and real estate markets, the deregulation of national financial systems, new investment strategies and vehicles have led to rising cross-border investments. Once dominated by local competitors, markets throughout the world now attract a range of international occupiers, investors, developers and consulting firms. - (IfL)
