Changes in the land use of the lowland landscapes along the Hármas-Körös river (S Hungary) have largely been shaped by processes taking place after flood control and regulation measures of that river. As a result fluvial accumulation - previously a major factor of landscape evolution - has either been eliminated or restricted to the flood plain. To prevent slope slumps it would be reasonable to start studies on flood control embankments to reveal sections particularly endangered by an extreme pressure during flood events. - (AM)
