Description :
The aims of this study were to : analyse and compare the morphometric features and spatial distribution of glacial cirques in 2 mountain areas of the Cantabrian Range that show remarkable altitudinal and lithological differences; perform a morphological classification of the cirques; and assess the relative importance of different environmental factors (altitude, aspect and lithology) on cirque morphometry. The 2 study areas were The Western Massif of Picos de Europa (WMPE) in East Asturias and the sierras of Southwest Asturias (SSWA) : Cazarnoso, Muniellos, Caniellas, Degaña and La Zarza).
