Description :
Geomorphological and sedimentological investigations coupled with cosmogenic datings from a Pio-Pleistocene fluvial succession and fluvial landscape atop along the southern Eskişehir Fault Zone (EFZ) allowed understanding the morphotectonic history and the rate of vertical displacement in Eskişehir region. The Porsuk River flows in a meandering valley incised mostly in an ancient fluvial plain. One abandoned meandering valley and two patchy but widespread terraces in the present meandering valley of Porsuk River at 900m and 850m altitudes also were mapped. The younger terrace dated by cosmogenic methods was displaced vertically about 40m by several active faults in the south of the graben. Determination of the total offset from fault scarp measurements and thickness of alluvium in the graben suggested an age of 150 ka for the onset of motion on the southern EFZ.
