This special issue provides a background to the writings of P. Sloterdijk. A discussion can be made about writings translated in the late 1980s, but his work has developed and changed over the last two decades. An attention is paid to the writings on Europe and politics, the three-volume book Spheres and his most recent writings on globalisation. The scene is set for an effective second coming of Sloterdijk. This issue contributes to that work of translation and interpretation.
