Description :
This paper is a detailed dendroclimatological study based on tree-ring width chronologies derived from sweet chestnut and Pyrenean oak trees sampled at their upper-altitudinal tree-growth limit in central-western Spain. The AA. explore and interpret the influence of climate conditions (temperature, precipitation, and NAO indices) on tree-ring development in an attempt to find out the sign and strength of the limiting climatic growth-controlling factor. These species have not been used previously to reconstruct the NAO variability from Iberia. Therefore the AA. assess the usefulness of these tree species for expanding the use of new tree-ring data in multi-proxy reconstructions of the NAO.
