Description :
Based on measured hydrological data by using ship-mounted Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) instrument, the AA. analyzed shapes of river cross sections of the middle Yangtze River basin (mainly focusing on Makou and Tianjiazhen river reach). The hydrologic data of 36 river cross sections have been successfully obtained. In this paper, the AA. try to characterize the hydrodynamic properties of river knots, associated backwater effects and their implications for flood mitigation in the middle and lower Yangtze River basin are also discussed.
