Description :
The aim of this paper is to consider the problem in a single theoretical framework using a model representation of porous ice, which takes into account the composition and structure of ice, as well as the structure of pores resulting from freezing of water in a fine-grained soil and a free space. It is shown that the calculated values of thermal conductivity for segregated ice are much higher than some previously published experimental values, probably due to some methodological shortcomings in the calculation and/or in the earlier experiments.
