The focus of the study is represented by so-called ’falutízesek’, the examination of which prove the fact that it is such a specific settlement structure of the Carpathian Basin, which could be traced back historically. This historical origin is associated with adequate behaviour and mentality, as well as with specific lifestyle adapted to the natural and social circumstances, the subconscious remnants of which the Szeklers are certainly bearing in their thinking. The paper provides an analysis of mental maps of the residents in ten different Szeklers’ settlements. - (AM)
