The tendence of suburbanisation speeded up in Hungary after the transition, the largest cities lost the significant part of their population. Inner-cities got into from bad to worse economic and social situation, and in the city of Budapest the conformation of slums began. Due to the renewal projects the neighbourhoods of the city developed a new face. The local society and their opinion changed about the own neigbourhoods too. The opinion of residents of innercity neighbourhoods and the current trends of migration are summarized in the paper. - (AM)
