The main aim of the paper is to arouse interest of geographers in problems of smell in the landscape. Paper was prepared on the basis of available publications and results of questionnaire research. It concerns smell diversity of the world, smell as the main issue of geographical research, and also smell inconveniences. It points out to the necessity to protect the smell quality. Naturally valuable areas should be considered here as the most important. - (BJ)
