Description :
The Żarnowska bog is located in a south-eastern part of the Słowiński National Park and remains an example of high peatbogs of the Baltic type, very rare in Poland. Its natural regime was disturbed by human activities as early as in the 18th century. The paper examines water conditions characteristics of and threats to the peatbog. It presents the steps taken by the Słowiński National Park in order to reconstruct the natural circulation and water supplies and stop degradation of the area’s natural ecosystem. - (BJ)
