Description :
Conflicts over drinking water in rural areas are not uncommon and are often associated with aridity and drought. The article shows, however, that disparities in access to drinking water do better explain these conflicts than ecological conditions. These disparities are based on profound changes in the Moroccan Upper Atlas regions. Therefore the conflicts are analysed in relation to social and political changes within these regions as well as transformed relationships between society and the state. - (IfL)
