The Road of the Kasbahs“, a touristic road on the Southern slopes of the High Atlas mountains, has been very successfully marketed in Southern Morocco as a destination for tours and cultural tourism for half a century. However, the tourist attractions of this settlement area, the traditional mud-walled citadels (kasbah, tighremt) and picturesque fortified villages (ksour), are increasingly falling into ruin and are no longer the defining elements of today´s landscapes. This article shows how it successfully presents new products that relate to the region´s cultural heritage. - (IfL)
