Primate City Nairobi. A Metropolis between Growth and Restructuring

Auteurs :
JOB, H.
BUTZMANN, E.

Description :
Nairobi illustrates the prime example of an African primate city. The Kenyan capital is characterised by an economic supremacy, a tremendous population growth accompanied by intense socio-economic disparities, by its huge spatial extension resulting in large informal settlements and by the proliferation of the urban economy. Nairobi is a globalized place linked with the global economy. The town is domicile of two headquarters of the United Nations as well as different head offices of international companies in East Africa. - (IfL)
