Description :
The aim of this paper is to discuss some examples where detailed measurements of the sediment load have been made during extreme events. A selection of rivers representing the range of sediment yields and processes in various parts of Norway has been studied in sediment monitoring programmes carried out by the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate. The combined effects of climate change and human impact on sediment transport in rivers appear to enhance downstream sediment delivery.
