Description :
This paper reviews the existing regional literature, and develops the argument that the most elevated areas in the Sudetes are very distinctive geomorphologically and bear a number of affinities to high mountain environments. Particular attention is given to their inherited glacial relief, present-day cold-climate phenomena, and debris flows as indicators of slope instability. Debris flows triggered by occasional downpours are the most potent geomorphic agents, also influencing hydrological conditions and vegetation patterns.
