Description :
The aim of this paper has been to discuss, by reference to the Tatra Mountains, the relationship between landform development and the presence of permafrost in mountains in which the latter is only present in isolated patches. Thus the slope morphology and morphodynamics at 3 permafrost sites in the Tatra Mts. are discussed in the context of the presence of periglacial landforms, especially indicative forms of permafrost. No distinct morphological evidence as to the presence of permafrost was in fact noted.
