Compilation of three articles

Description :
Three articles: 1- Bodwapaya’s madness : monastic accounts of King Bodawpaya’s conflict with the Burmese Sangha by Patrick Pranke. 2- Festivalizing Thingyan, negotiating ethnicity : Burmese Chinese migrants in Taiwan by Hsin-Chun Tasaw Lu. 3- Legal education in Burma since the mid 1960s by Myint Zan. Article 3 shows that Taiwan has been a land of immigration for Burmese Chinese after 1962. Although they have a rather low status in society, they organize festivals such as Thingyan (New year). However, even when performing Burmese arts, they retain mostly their Chinese identity. The Burmese Chinese have moved from a place of social invisibility to being a noted community in Taiwan. - (GL)
