The aims of this paper are to simulate the effects of climate change on 1) future floods and 2) spatial variability of velocity, bed shear stress and stream power per unit area at the lower reach of the Tana River, Norway. Future discharge scenarios spanning the years 2070 to 2099 are modelled with a conceptual hydrological model incorporating three emissions scenarios, with two global and one regional climate model. These simulated flood discharges were used as input hydrographs to model flow characteristics with a two-dimensional hydraulic model. Differences in the spatial distribution of flow characteristics between frequent and infrequent floods were examined. Results are compared to the present-day situation and discussed.
