Description :
The aim of this paper is to present the necessary steps for the development of the large-scale model SCALES (Spatialisation d’éChelle fine de l’ALéa Erosion des Sols/large-scale assessment and mapping model of soil erosion hazard), and to show results of one application in the Department of Calvados (5500 km2), in the north-western part of France. Thereafter, the discussion will more particularly compare SCALES with the principal models focused on the evaluation of erosion over large areas.
