Description :
This article present the main dimensions to Warsaw’s socio-spatial differentiation as set against the pre-1989 situation ; it has drawn on data concerning census districts from the 2002 National Census, subjecting these to PCA, and in consequence identifying main metafeatures to the differentiation, as associated with family situation, socioeconomic status and social marginalisation. Spatial structures shaped previously are showing considerable inertia, this i.a. being manifested in the classification of districts, which points to the similarity of different units, from the point of view of the kind of construction present, but also in relation to the period during which the districts’ built-up areas came into existence. - (BJ)
