This article describes the role of shortlived downpours when it comes to the shaping of slopes and valley bottoms in the Gorce Mountains, as exemplified by the Jaszcze and the Jamne catchments and the falls of rain that took place in 1997 and 2008. The results of the flood from the first ten-day period of July 1997 were specified on the basis of air photos analysis. In turn, in July 2008 it was possible to make direct observations of falls of rain and its results, this being shown to be the cause of the greatest changes in the Jamne stream channel. Moreover, they caused the creation of a few small earth slumps on slopes. The greatest geomorphological effects of rainfall occur in channel of streams, with the transformations of slopes due to mass movements being less remarkable. - (BJ)
