This article seeks to review the main thrusts to the work being done in social biometeorology, as one of the fields of human biometeorology. Such research is based around an awareness that human life and activity at both individual and societal levels are dependent upon climatic conditions. The justification for this assertion is discussed in relation to selected examples of climatic impacts on many and varied manifestations of our species’ social and economic life. - (BJ)
