Reconstructing conflict : integrating war and post-war geographies

Auteurs :
KIRSCH, S.
FLINT, C.

Description :
In this book, which is conceived as an expression of critical geopolitics, reconstruction is identified as a process of conflict and of militarized power, not something that clearly demarcates a post-war period of peace. Challenging the familiar dichotomy between war and peace, 15 chapters explore ways that war and peace are mutually constituted in the creation of historically specific geographies and geographical knowledges. Case studies are drawn from experiences in Afghanistan, Cyprus, France, Indonesia, Iraq, Japan, Kampuchea, Myanmar (Burma), the Philippines, and the USA. - (HC)
