The article deals with EU water framework directive, the lowland rivers, the hydromorphology, the bed load sampling, typology of watercourses and hydropower. Our research examines if the classification of the Fintau as a sand dominated lowland river is justified and if any evidence for a human superimposing of the riverbed can be detected. - (IfL)
