The article describes the activities of a network in Berlin (Märkisches Viertel) that aims to enable elderly people to live independently in their own homes as long as possible. Qualitative and quantitative methods were used, including spatial analyses, participant observation, structured interviews, group discussions and a questionnaire. The results show that elderly residents value the estate as a good place to live. The paper deals with the terms housing estate, elderly persons accommodation, the networking, the social disadvantage and the enhancing resources. - (IfL)
