The awful situation of the Lampedusa Island is seen in the frame of an immigration which began in Italy when Mezzogiorno still was an emigration region, and very soon transformed into a chaotic mass movement. The today immigrants, allegedly irregular, only want to survive. Without knowledge, they are part of an epochal movement, somehow integrated in the globalisation. - (NF)
